CRYPT90 Help
Free Online Message Encryption

CRYPT90 is a free online encryption service. To send a message securely to another party, just encrypt the message using CRYPT90, paste the encrypted message into an email, and send it. The person who receives the encrypted message can then decrypt the message using CRYPT90 and read it.

KEY:   The security of your encrypted message comes from the secret key that you choose. You may select any key you like from 10 to 256 characters long. A strong key will give you a strong encryption, a weak key will give you a weak encryption. In general, long keys are stronger than short keys, and well-mixed keys are stronger than uniform keys. For instance,   UDn*4  h#@G7  ZU3(1   is much stronger than   392174

CRYPT90 uses the key to scramble your message. If you use a strong key, nobody can read the scrambled message without knowing that key. The decryption uses the same key to unscramble the message so that the legitimate receiver can read it.

BE CAREFUL:   The sender and the receiver must copy the message and the key exactly. If even one character gets changed, or added or deleted, then the message cannot be read. For example, when copying the message to or from the email, if an extra character gets picked up at the end of the message, even an extra blank, the decrypted message will be hopelessly garbled. (Of course this can be fixed just by deleting the excess character.)

The key and the encrypted message are both case-sensitive. Changing any letter from upper case to lower case, or vice-versa, will make the message unreadable.

The scrambled message will typically be about one-third longer than the original message. This is done to reduce the possibility that the message gets altered when you email it.

SECURE:   CRYPT90 is more secure than any other online encryption because nothing get transmitted during encryption and decryption. Not the key, not the message, and not the encrypted message. That is why CRYPT90 does not need to hide your key as you type it. This lets you see what you have typed, and make corrections, if needed. So you can use a longer, more random key than you could with other methods.

DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO SEE YOUR KEY ON THE SCREEN
